Meet Your Watchmaker: Steven Forshaw (FBHI)
I’ve spent my entire working life at the bench. My journey began when I was just 16 years old, starting as an apprentice and learning the intricate art of horology from the ground up.
For 20 years, I worked in the trade, managing workshops and refining my skills on everything from vintage heirlooms to modern Swiss calibres. But I always felt something was missing in the industry. Watch owners were often forced to choose between the high costs of a main dealer or the lack of specialist equipment at a local jeweller.
In 2021, I decided to take the leap and start Prime Time Watch Repairs. I wanted to build the kind of workshop I’d want to send my own watches to—independent, approachable, and obsessed with quality.

A Standard You Can Trust
I don’t like to boast, but in this trade, qualifications matter because they prove your watch is safe. I have dedicated my career to meeting the highest standards in British watchmaking.
- Fellow of the British Horological Institute (FBHI): In 2020, I was honoured to be awarded a Fellowship. This is the highest grade of membership available, and it was a proud moment to be recognised for professional achievement.
- Giving Back to the Trade: In 2021, I was appointed to the Board of Directors for the BHI, allowing me to help shape the future of our craft.
- Member of the British Watch and Clockmakers Guild.
“I didn’t build Prime Time to be the biggest company in the world. I built it to be the best for my customers. I wanted to create a place where technical excellence meets a friendly face.” — Steven Forshaw

Ideally Equipped
I believe that to do the best work, you need the best tools. That is why I constantly reinvest in the workshop.
We might be a small independent team, but we punch well above our weight when it comes to equipment. I make sure we are fitted with the latest Swiss diagnostic tooling, pressure testers, and cleaning machines—the same kit you’d find in the big Swiss factories. It’s an expensive way to run a business, but it allows us to diagnose faults that others might miss and ensure your watch is restored to the highest possible standard.
